Telekom Slovenije will collaborate with startups in developing solutions for telecommunications of the future
This year, Telekom Slovenije is joining us as a PODIM Challenge blue-chip partner. They are a comprehensive provider of ICT services in Slovenia and a leading player in introducing and connecting new generations of mobile and fixed communications, system integration and cloud services, and multimedia content. With modernization, development of broadband optic networks and mobile networks of the fourth generation, and by actively participating in European projects for developing the next generation of telecommunication networks (5G), Telekom Slovenije has already created a platform for a transition to complete digitalization, management of devices and services, and communications and connectivity between devices. They are also planning to design solutions for telecommunications of the future in collaboration with innovative startups, which can join them in R&D projects of Telekom Slovenije.
Priority areas for collaborating with startups
Telekom Slovenije sees solutions for telecommunications of the future as the priority areas for strategic collaboration with startups within R&D projects, including:
- Internet of Things (smart networks, connected homes, smart cities, e-health), in which Telekom Slovenije sees its role mostly in integrating solutions of various providers,
- fifth generation of mobile networks and their industrial application,
- data mining and services in this field,
- big data that enable improving Telekom Slovenije services, but can also be designed as a market service,
- critical public services and cybernetic security,
- business solutions for small and medium-sized companies with the purpose of improving productivity, digitalizing processes and using innovative solutions based on big data and artificial intelligence.
Telekom Slovenije recognizes big potential in collaborating with startup companies in all areas listed above. This way, they will use a combination of their own knowledge and experience, the data they have at their disposal, and solutions developed by startups to make even faster technological progress and develop in areas that are important to users of communication services. In this, they are putting a special emphasis on increasing business productivity of small and medium-sized companies.
With Big Data to new solutions for ecology, smart living, and e-health
In the process of digitalization, Telekom Slovenije has already developed a data and technological Big Data platform that ensures integration and enrichment of data sources in order to constantly improve the user experience. The areas of use for the Big Data platform are varied – from the Internet of Things, where data is created from different kinds of devices, to information about the environment (weather, pollution, maps) and the user experience itself. By integrating new technologies and best practices, Telekom Slovenije enables the development of advanced services in its Big Data platform, including areas that offer new opportunities to the company, such as smart living, smart homes, and e-health.
