With Friday's event in Zagreb, Croatia, the PODIM team concluded the first week of the PODIM Challenge Roadshow, taking place throughout the European Adriatic and Western Balkans regions. At the roadshow events, early-stage startups that are looking for a seed investment or strategic partnership with big corporations can meet the PODIM team and main partners of the PODIM Conference as well as get a chance to pitch their idea and get invaluable feedback. Over 100 startups are expected to pitch at the events, with over 500 attendees.
Great networking opportunity
PODIM Challenge Roadshow is a series of PODIM Conference pre-events that will be held in February and March 2018 throughout the European Adriatic and Western Balkans region. At the events, early-stage startups from the region will have the opportunity to meet partners of the PODIM Conference, representatives from main partner accelerators and corporations, private and institutional investors such as Seedcamp, Pioneers Ventures, South Central Ventures, Day One Capital, Kolektor Ventures, Iskratel, Pošta Slovenije and Zavarovalnica Sava as well as many successful and experienced entrepreneurs from the region. They will also have the opportunity to pitch their startup idea to the PODIM team and partners, and receive invaluable feedback. This can help them in their application for the PODIM Challenge, where they can win a PODIM startup ticket and gain access to PODIM 1:1 Arena with 500+ meetings and pitching competition with special prizes.
First stops: Belgrade, Sarajevo and Zagreb
PODIM kicked off the PODIM Challenge Roadshow at the beginning of last week with the conference pre-event in Belgrade, Serbia, followed by events in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Zagreb, Croatia. Over 30 startups pitched their ideas to renowned investors, such as managing directors of Pioneers Ventures Markus Lang and Philipp Stangl; managing partner at Seedcamp Carlos Eduardo Espinal; managing partner at South Central Ventures Jure Mikuž; managing partner and CEO at Day One Capital Csaba Kakosy; partner at BUDS & co-founder at SASH reporting Darko Butina, and general partner at StartLabs Nebojša Lazić.
Hot startup topics with top-notch speakers
Apart from access to investors, corporate partners and renowned entrepreneurs, PODIM Challenge Roadshow events will also provide valuable content and discussions about the hottest topics in the startup world. The first three events were marked by keynote speeches of renowned speakers – Carlos Eduardo Espinal talked about investing in AI, Darko Butina disclosed the truth behind blockchain, crypto currencies and ICOs, while Philipp Stangl covered the basics of venture capital. At each event, an investor panel is held, providing startups and attendees with direct access to the guests.
In the following weeks, a number of Roadshow events will follow – in February in Tirana (Albania), Prishtina (Kosovo), Skopje (Macedonia), Podgorica (Montenegro). In March, PODIM roadshow will be visiting the European Adriatic region, with events in Rijeka (Croatia), Klagenfurt and Graz (Austria), Szentgotthárd (Hungary) and Trieste and Udine (Italy).
